Editorial policy

Principles

• Descriptive only. Flood Figures reports historical facts from federal records and describes how current regulations work. It publishes no forecasts and does not rate, score, or model hazard.
• No recommendations. The site does not advise readers to buy, skip, or switch any product. Where comparison is useful, pages present neutral factual frameworks.
• Every number is traceable. Statistics enter pages only from the site's data build, which is computed from the cited OpenFEMA datasets. Automated checks run at build time; a page that fails them does not publish.
• Sources are named. Every page footer states the datasets and the data-as-of date. Regulatory statements cite the governing program or statute in the text.
• Independence. Flood Figures is not affiliated with FEMA or any government agency, and no insurer edits its content.

Corrections

Errors that survive the automated checks are corrected in the next build once identified, and the underlying check is extended to catch the class of error. To report an error, email [email protected] with the page URL and the figure in question.
